What is a scoliosis?

In simple terms, scoliosis is a curvature of the spine to one side.
The diagnosis is often made during puberty and usually comes as a complete surprise to families. Depending on the sensitivity of the bearer of the news, the subject is then explained more or less well.

Having worked for several years at the company
neja (formerly Ortholutions) in Bavaria, I have carried out many corset fittings at the scoliosis rehabilitation clinic in Bad Sobernheim (D) as well as fittings in Germany and abroad.
I also looked after the branch in Barcelona (ES) for a time and worked closely with Dr. Manuel Rigo there.

How your scoliosis brace is made in Tyrol

We take special measurements for a scoliosis Cheneau corset and create a 3D scan of the torso.
Based on these measurements and the scan, your corset is then computer-assisted and manufactured by hand.
If your orthopaedist prescribes a Cheneau corset for your scoliosis, we need a current X-ray of your spine. This is the only way we can correctly recognize and measure the type and angle of curvature. A detailed doctor's letter is also helpful.
Once everything is available, we will make an appointment to discuss everything in peace and quiet. Make time for this appointment and bring your parents with you. If you have any questions, write them down at home and ask me about them at the appointment. I want you to return home that day with no unanswered questions.
The rest of the corset therapy procedure will also be discussed at this appointment.
Please bring comfortable clothing to every appointment with us. If you are female, please also bring a bra / sports bra.

What else is helpful for scoliosis besides a corset?

At the scoliosis clinic in Bad Sobernheim, I was able to experience and realize that physiotherapy according to Schroth is a really good and helpful therapy option for existing scoliosis.
I can highly recommend those affected to look for an appropriate therapist, as physiotherapy is a very important part of the treatment of spinal curvature!

The cost

If you have received a prescription for a scoliosis Cheneau corset from your doctor/orthopaedist, we will take care of the cost coverage with your austrian health insurance company. As we have contracts with all austrian health insurance companies, your corset will usually be covered in full by the health insurance companies/payers. We will only start making your brace once the costs have been fully covered.

This means that you will not incur any additional costs for your corset therapy with us!
